Send Email to user id doesnt work, but Registration email does?

Hello all,
I am using GL v1.3.11sr2. I am using SMTP and am relayng through my email host and the registration email works fine. When i click on the Send Email in a story or if I create a contact link, which goes to http://URL/profiles.php?uid=2, i never receive the email.
I have it so anyone can send email, not just registered users:
$_CONF['emailuserloginrequired'] = 0;
Any ideas??
