Btw, has anyone ever tried to contact the makers of WinZIP? I find it hard to believe (and somewhat embarrassing for them) that even version 9 of their product can't handle .tar.gz files ...

As usual, I don't have a problem with Winzip 9.0. I never had. I'm using it on WinXP.

Here it is. Get it while it's still hot!
But I really suggest using 7zip. I never had any problems with it. It's fast, small, easy to use (espacially now they finally support drag & drop) and free.
