Nobody can edit comments

On our site, neither regular users nor root users can edit comments. It looks like it works, but then nothing happens when you click Save -- the changes aren't saved.

I opened a bug on this, but given no response as of yet, I'd like to figure it out on my own. However, I don't even know where to begin -- there don't seem to be any log entries generated from the failure.

Any debugging suggestions?

With geeklog1.6.1b1 admin can edit comments but anonymous can't.
