meta search words

Hey!

Is there possible to add meta search words (for websearch) with GL? How?

It would be great that we could specify what are articles all about within meta tags - so that webspyders and searchengines would list appropriate pages on top of results. Meta words! With millions of Internet users turning to search engines each day to find Web sites we can not afford not to be found by them. Right? When publishing a story there should be a frame to specify meta words.

So... Development and progress... Please include this function within next release of GL or write an external module. So GeekLog will be even better and more professional.

Yes, ofcourse it is possible. Add it manualy to Your header.thtml in Your site default theme. If You wan't to Your site be more search engines friendly, my proposiotions is:
- use RSS syndication, add Button with RSS to Your site and an information about it to Your header.thtml, add RSS links to one or all public RSS catalogs,
- add site index link to Your site, this is a plugin for GL,
- it is better if Your directory (archiwe of articles included in GL 1.4) is public and link is good wisible,
Now to 1 article in one site is more thet one link Wink Google boots love this Very Happy

Regards & sorry for pure english Wink
allways use Google search, but sometimes use Delete.Net.PL! ;)

Not satisfied... I - We would like to add meta tags for each page on GL site individually. That would be a hack, wouldn't be it?

You could and should upgrade to Geeklog 1.4.0sr2 and then do changes to the theme which is below /public_html/professional/

Yes, that version should be updated ASAP. In fact, this version is several security fixes behind - you'll also need the 1.3.9sr2, sr3, sr4, and of course sr5 fixes. Or just upgrade right to 1.4.0sr2 ...

Will this mess up my existing site if I upgrade right now? I don't want to lose any of my present information...

Stories, etc. are all stored in the database and won't be affected. If you've modified any core files, then you'll obviously lose those and have to re-apply your modifications. Themes are compatible, as long as you stay within the same version (e.g. 1.3.9sr1 to 1.3.9sr5).

HELP! I can't even unzip the files...

Anonymous
I have no clue how to work Gzip, so I can't unzip or install your program.

Can I hire someone to install it on my site?

If so, please go to the Contact Us form at http://www.1stPod.com and let me know how much you would charge just for a simple installation so I can be up and running.

I need it asap. Thanks!
