A real idiot is posting (porn) to my site now every day. It is causing havoc as it is now beginning to eat up my bandwidth which is now beginning to cost me time, effort, money and frustration. How can I either disable the comment( I already did this=$_CONF['commentsloginrequired'] = 1Wink but it did not work.... in my config.php section. OR how can I stop this person from posting? Do I have to change the permissions of the config. They are at 644 now. I can't figure why the $_CONF['commentsloginrequired'] = 1; in my config.php won't work unless it is not writable but it does not say that.. it just does not work.

Also... I have been keeping a daily journal of the postings including the IP numbers(There are at this writing 12 IP numbers).

Please help. My site is not a money maker so I need help to stop this situation before I completely lose my site.

I noticed this idiot has posted on geeklog and tonybibbs.com as well. His postings are porn..
My site is:
Bloom Where You're Planted I would certainly appreciate some help with this serious situation.

I was getting spam like that for awhile but I kept updating my spam-x personal blacklist until it finally stopped. Add words that your normal users are unlikely to ever use and eventually you will get it under control. I used to get about 30-60 a day now I am down to 1-2 a week.

Also try out the bad behavior plugin, I have had it installed for about 2 weeks and it has a ton of stuff in the log already.
Yes I am mental.

Thanks for the response...

1. How do I work with spam x? The problem for me is that this idiot is posting a PAGE of info at a time. He must me cutting and pasting his comments...It's too much info to use the censor word catch..I have his IP. Can I post an IP to ban him? (I took off the spam last night... It is 5:00 a.m. He has already hit it again!) Bandwidth is being chewed up! Help...someone..please. thanks!

2. How do I cut off the comments? I put in the code of "1" for making the person login to comment but that is not working...I've had my site worked on by about 4 different programmers. I wonder if somehow something was disabled...?

Ya' gotta remember.. Folks like me are just "bloggers" not programmers. So when I have to go into the database at all, I get the hee be jeebies! I can do it... after a fashion but I really have to psyc myself up because I am not a programmer in any fashion of the word. SO...

Any help you can give me, I'll take it. Thanks

I wouldn't do that since according to this page you already have it installed. You should go to your admin panel and click on "spam-x" then click that says something about "MT Blacklist Import". Then click on the "Edit Personal Blacklist" to add words such as "i n c e s t" and "f r e e p i c s". Depending on what version of GL you have there is also a "Mass Delete Spam Comments" button that is quite handy after you add the proper words to your personal blacklist.

As to your guests being able to post comments you SHOULD just have to set "$_CONF['commentsloginrequired'] = 1;" in your config.php, if that doesn't work then there is some other issues.

Thank you all for your help in this matter. If everyone in life would just "Do the right thing" we wouldn't even have a forum for this issue but....

Anyhow...Here is what happened when I tried to use the Spam-x:
Can anyone help with this situation? Thank you in advance....
