It would be nice to easily be able to create magazine/newsletter style Editions, to be an online analog of a paper magazine or newsletter. Every story in a block of this type would have an edition number so that one could easily see all those stories from that edition and would also be tagged with department or topic area.
This makes it possible for archives to be accessible both by edition and by topic area.
For example, a community center might have departments for Family Services, Teen Activities, Swimming, Sports, etc. Every month a news letter is mailed (on paper to all members), with stories from every department and articles from the center's director and other people.
This site's archive would let one view February's edition (showing all stories that were published in that issue), and would also let a user view all articles from the Family Services department.
Slashcode (the Slashdot code base) and Bricollage allow this functionality, but are much harder to maintain than Geeklog.

Would this be functionally equivalent to allowing more than one topic per story? To create an edition, you simply create a topic for it.
I think multiple topics per story would be a great addition - there is a feature request in for this.

Allowing more than one topic per story would certainly be one approach for an underlying infrastructure for this feature. I would suggest that having UI specifically designed to implement Editions (built on top of that or some other infrastructure) would be a good idea.

Location:The Netherlands, where else?
Perhaps it's possible to sort the stories per week (or month), like lots of blogs already do.
