Only Excerpts to submissions to be displayed on home page

I would like to see only excerpts of new article submissions displayed on my home-page. Is there already a feature / plugin that can display say the first 5 lines of an article and add a "read more >>" link to the article. I can not find any info in the documentation regarding this. I am sure I have seen this on some sites driven by Geeklog.

You mean the intro and the body text ?
You can easily achieve this by only placing the first 5 lines in the intro and the rest in the body when you create a story yourself.
Basicly whenever someone submits a story who is not a Story Admin, they don´t have the intro and body feature, but, before you approve it you just copy the text to body and leave only the 5 first lines in the intro ...
This will automatically generate the read more link.
(edit: just saw that this in GL2 forum. if there is some developer beta you are playing around with, ignore me. If it just the normal GL 1 then the above should work)

Thanks. I was actually hoping for a way to eliminate the manual steps you outlined above (i.e. some way to have the first 5 lines automatically appear in the intro). Unfortunately I am only starting to get to know php so it will take me some time to implement such a feature for myself.
