gl_projects is a tool for GL plugin developers.

The Filemgmt plugin is a common upload plugin for gl developers to use to upload releases of their plugins. However unless its to their own site once they submit an upload they are unable to change decription on in the downloads section of the Filemgmt plugin. And are forced to make a new description each time the upload.

gl_projects is an extension for Filemgmt plugin and requires the Filemgmt plugin to function. gl_projects links to Filemgmt and allows a plugin developer to create a modifyable profile that can be repointed as new versions of a project are posted.

A 2ndardy feature is the ability to post projects they do not yet reside in the Filemgmt Plugin or reside somewhere else, for exmaple like sourceforge.net.

The developer is given new fields as well.
Last Release Date, which by default looks for a post date in the Filemgmt tables. But is overrridable with a custom value.

Next Release Date, is unquie to gl_projects and is as it says a place to post the next expected release.

Both Next Release and Last Release are optional fields.

Some fields are suplicated with the intent to provide override of fields in the Filemgmt tables.

There are fields for Download URL and Homepage URL which when left blank use Filemgmt data but when filled in will cause gl_projects to ignore the entries in Filemgmt in favor of its local data.

Last but not least is a the search function. Which as long as a profile has for a plugin has been created will allow a visitor or fellow developer to search by developer or project name.
