I can't for the life of me figure out what I have done wrong in installing geeklog1.3.9

I have run all the install steps and looked at the settings in config.php and lib-common.php many times

when I run check.php it comes up with a blank page - says nothing in the log file

when i go to www.mydomainname.com i get a blank page - says nothing in the log file

when i run install.php i get the following error message:
----------------
Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/admin/install/install.php on line 603

Fatal error: Failed opening required '/opt/geeklog-1.3.9/system/classes/template.class.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php') in /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/admin/install/install.php on line 603
-----------------------

I have also done the chmod in the 4 places and even changed it to 777

I have also changed the security as follows:
/sbin/e-smith/db accounts setprop myibaynamehere PHPBaseDir /
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event ibay-modify myibaynamehere

I have separated out the "public_html" from the rest (and renamed it to "html"

Here are the parts of my config.php that I modified:

$_DB_name = 'sqldbname'; // name of your database,
$_DB_user = 'mysqlusername'; // MySQL user name
$_DB_pass = 'mypassword'; // MySQL password
$_CONF['path'] = '/opt/geeklog-1.3.9/'; // should end in a slash
$_CONF['path_html'] = '/home/e-smith/files/ibays/primary/html/';
$_CONF['site_url'] = 'http://www.mydomainname.com';

Here are the parts of my lib-common.php that I modified:
require_once( '/opt/geeklog-1.3.9/config.php' );

Please help

I have the exact same problem. I have done almost all the same changes as you. I have changed the config.php file a million different ways. Always the same result. Did you ever figure this out?

yes i did figure it out.

you have to disable some of the security features in the e-smith server

go to contribs.org or maybe e-smith.org and look at their faq related to security and there's one on how to enable php
