confused
Hi, just a query Eek! , in my member list within my site i have 2 users listed that have the same user name and same user email. When i have looked at the details for these two users the register time and date is exactly the same for both of them, for some reason it seems it has copied itself twice, and this has added an extra user to site my list, but the truth is that it is only one user that is listed twice in the members list.

i have looked in my database and this particular user is only listed once within the database, but is listed twice in the site members list. Rolling Eyes

Anyone any ideas Question

i hope this makes sense

cheers

Hmm, that doesn't sound good.

I'd strongly suggest disabling the site, making a backup, and trying to repair the table (phpMyAdmin has an option to check a table and information on repairing a table can be found on mysql.com).

bye, Dirk

Another thing i have noticed is that in the database the numbered order of the users i.e. 53,54,55,56,57 is jumbelled up for the last 8 joined members e.g. 56,53,57,55,54,

what could this be, bad structure?

also at the beginning the member mubers appear as follows
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,14,15,16,17

9,10,11,12,13, are missing???? dunno why this is.

The order of the records shouldn't be a problem. When you delete records (in this case: users) MySQL will re-use the empty slots for new records.

phpMyAdmin also has an option to sort records ("Alter table order by ...") that you can use here.

gl_userindex
gl_userinfo
gl_userprefs
gl_users

and it saysthat they are all OK

It's odd, though, and certainly not normal.

Do you have duplicate entries (for that user) in the other user-related tables, too?

Try exporting the users table, then drop it and import it again (removing the duplicate from the SQL dump manually, if it appears there).

bye, Dirk

There are no duplicate entries within the DB for this particular user, the only place it is duplicated is within the members list in my geeklog site. Question strange eh

Eek! This sounds crazy Dirk, and it makes me look really stupid, ive look again through the user member list within the site and now the duplicated user has gone and i am left with the original user. The strangest thing is that i have not altered anything at all within the DB or site all i have done is check the DB, i havn't performed any repairs and now it seems ok. Spooky. But, I will let you know if anything like this haoppens again though. It may be interesting to see if this has happend to anyone else.

Thanks for your time and help.

cheers m8.
