I have a template that is smaller than usually, not 100%, that I'd like to limit the amount of characters one can use as a subject line. Is there a way to do this?

The reason behind it is, if someone uses more than n characters, the height I defined for my table doubles and changes the whole page.

You can limit the length of the title in the template files: submit/submitstory.thtml for stories submitted by users and admin/story/storyeditor.thtml for stories submitted by the Admin.

Search for "maxlength".
