Poll Problem with Questions

I\'ve been experiencing a strange behavior recently while setting up new polls. After entering Answers/Votes and saving a poll, the systems removes first four characters so e.g. if the answer is History it shows then ory etc. Moreover the poll doesn\'t appear even though it\'s switched on. Any help appreciated.
