Admin Install problem

I get an error that states the following
Warning: is_dir() [function.is-dir]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 65534 is not allowed to access /var/www/system/install_templates owned by uid 501 in /var/www/system/classes/template.class.php on line 203
Template Error: set_root: /var/www/system/install_templates is not a directory.
Halted.
When I try to go to
http://mymachine/admin/install/install.php and set the geeklog website database.
Please help!
