Intro text in stories

Which version of geeklog require a separate designation of intro text when submitting a story? I've installed the 1.3 beta and find the separate entry of the intro and body texts annoying. But version 1.2-5.1, which this site runs on, doesn't require that? How come the change was made, if it was?Tane Sez:
Not entirely sure what your on about? Tony, want to chime in?

I'm not sure I'm following you.
In Geeklog, since I can remember (even before 1.1) there has always been a separation of intro and body text fields FOR ADMINS. Re-read the all caps there.
A story'ss intro text is used to be a summary to get readers to click 'read more' for longer stories. In otherwords, all the text on the homepage shows only the text provided in intro text.
When you click read more, Geeklog goes through the processs of combining the intro and body text.
Now, for non-admins (i.e. those who click the contribute link) you can only submit the text in one big text field. It is up to the admin that moderates the story to split it up into intro and body text fields.
This functionality is fairly standard with ALL weblogs. I'm not sure if I'm addressing your question. If not, please reply to this with more details.
The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.

Hmm. I'm new to weblogs and have only been testing my site using the admin acct, so I didn't realize that's how it works. I did notice that the intro text is printed before the body text when you click on the "read more" link.
One might sometimes prefer to use something in the middle of an article as a teaser or intro text. By having the intro text printed again in the main pages could be a little confusing, or at least unaesthetic. At least that was my first impression. It might be nice to have an option not to show the intro text when displaying the "read more" page.

I agree that the moderator should have control over the intro text.
In my case I want to 'tease' with a few lines from the body of a short story, or tease with a blurb written about the story ... not always the first X number of words from the story itself.

Ahh, I follow you guys. That seems reasonable. I think this could be easily implemented in a post 1.3 release.
