Hello,
En 2 sites with GL 1.8.1, I have this mistake when I use the database backup script, :
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPES' at line 1. SQL in question: SHOW TABLE TYPES
Previously had no problems, I don't know if MSQL was updated.

That's one of the problems Geeklog 1.8.1 has with MySQL 5.5, so your hosting provider probably updated MySQL.
You can fix this in admin/database.php: Search for "SHOW TABLE TYPES" and replace it with "SHOW STORAGE ENGINES".
