Configuration Manager changes are not saved

Just completed a fresh install this morning (v1.6.1), and no changes seem to "stick" when I try changing any option on the Configuration Manager screen.
I saw the thread at http://www.geeklog.net/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=88532 which seems like it may have been similar to what's happening to me, but that thread died without a solution. I'm also tried IRC but no one on the channel at the time was taking questions. I'm still searching Google but so far keep coming up empty.
Is there a post-install step I missed somewhere?

Does the rest of the website work? (ie can you create a new story)
When you attempt to save a configuration option is an error reported on screen or in the error.log file?

Nope... also not able to create a story. No error is displayed on the page, and my error.log is here...

Your problem could be related to Geeklog CSRF protection as the other forum thread indicates.
It sound like you can log into your site, can you change any of your user settings? Can a new user be created (via the front end)?
A link to your site would help so we could rule out browser issues.
