Hello, I'm new to GeekLog and I'm curious if it can be made to behave like this website http://www.dailykos.com. The functionality I'm mostly after is:

- Ability to recommend stories and based on number of recommendations, they show up in the Recommended section.

Overall, the functionality of DailyKos and MyDD are what I'm after.

I understand that DailyKos is using Scoop, but my webhost (Dreamhost) doesn't natively allow me to install Scoop because of it's installation requirements. Any point in the right direction is appreciated.

There's a rating plugin. I don't know if it offers the functionality you're after yet, but I imagine it should be possible to create a list of best-rated stories from it.
