Make stories appear in a left block?

Is there any way to make stories appear in a left block ? I want to have a "news" block on the left side displaying just stories from 1 topic.

I already tried to display an RSS feed but how could I format this block?

Search for the 'Stories by Topic Block', works like a charm...
