Gallery Redirect?

I have the gallery plugin setup on my site, and am wondering if there would be a way to set up a redirect so if anyone tried to navigate to the /gallery portion of my site directly it would take them back to the the main page. The reason for this is that if they just go to /gallery none of the geeklog portion of the site is there which makes it hard to navigate. I have tried setting up redirects in the .htaccess but it effectively breaks the entire gallery.
If anyone has any thoughts on this, please let me know.
