When I move the search form to the right block, the text for "advanced search" and "search" disappear. Only a blank narrow button left.

I even tried having the search form on both left a right blocks using exactly the same codes. The right block doesn't give me the texts. When I changed it to hardcoded text instead of using {button_search}, it works.

Any idea why?

The left blocks are rendered as part of the header while the right blocks are actually rendered as part of the footer. And the {button_search} variable is only defined in the header ...
