Limit directory listings?

Is there a customization possible to limit the directory listing to only pull stories from a single topic?
Example:
I have two story topics. TopicA and TopicB. When a user selects the directory link, and they have the list of dates containing stories for each given month, I only want TopicB stories to display when a month is selected.
