feature request for spam attacks

Hi
Had a major spam attack over the weekend - 500 comments, all links to porn sites.

Can we have a feature that allows deletion of the comment *and* adding the IP address to the blacklist in one step. Also, once you add an IP address to a blacklist, a scrubbing function that goes out and deletes all other comments made from that IP address.

Thanks

Almost there already: The Mass Delete Comments module for Spam-X that ships with Geeklog 1.4.1 will be able to delete comments based on the IP addresses from the IP blacklists (that doesn't work in 1.4.0 and earlier and required changes in Spam-X that were only implemented in 1.4.1).

It shouldn't be too hard to modify the Mass Delete Comments module to add the IP addresses to the blacklist before deleting the comments.

Although I'm not convinced that blocking IP addresses is a good generic method to stop spam. You may end up blocking dynamic IP addresses that will be used by some innocent person a day or so later ...

bye, Dirk
