Cookie Domain Question

I only recently realized that I left out the domain name (i.e. example.com) in my config.php for the cookies settings. In other words, the config.php still has the default setting of:
Text Formatted Code
$_CONF['cookiedomain']                  = ''; // e.g. '.example.com'

Now there hasn't been any problems with logins that I am aware of, but should this be changed to the main domain name used on the site? If I change it now, will it cause problems for all users logging on?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Louis

When 'cookiedomain' isn't set, then Geeklog uses '.example.com' (or whatever your domain name is) automatically. So you'll only have to change it in case that causes any problems.

Perhaps I spoke too soon when I wrote there hasn't been any problems with logins...

Recently some users have been expressing that they are having trouble being remembered on the site. So even if they choose to stay logged in for one month, the next day, they have to login once again.

They have their cookies on. So I am not sure what the issue might be. I am not sure if it is relating to this question or not.

If I go ahead and add the the cookiedomain data in the config.php, I need to proceed it with a dot, as in the example commented in the config.php? '.example.com' ?

Could there be any other reason why some users are not being remembered? I myself don't have that issue, it remembers my login.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Louis

OK, the problem may have been limited to one user... After he cleared his cookies and started again, I think the site is now remembering him.
