confused
hello

i'm dealing with a big problem for some time now. using the latest geeklog version, using spam-x url blacklist etc, still having 2 major problems. problem one is a popup screen that apears when i'm opening my site. the url is usely from ilead.itrack.it or static.itrack.it the second problem is is that my host is really pissed because my site produced from time to time a 100% serverload, even when i'm doing nothing. Anyone have a idea how to resolve both or at least one of my two problems??

at this moment i'm going to install the bad_behavior plugin but i don't know for sure if this is going to work. I also have changed my htaccess file with the help of Dirk who posted 3 examples in another topic.

Try to find out what actually caused the load by checking your webserver's logfiles.

To give you some ideas: Just yesterday, we had a "nice" person sending over 7500 requests over the course of 2 hours trying lots of automated exploits. And today two equally "nice" persons tried to download the entire site (well, most of it at least). And sometimes it's just that the bots of all the big search engines hit the site all at once ...

So it's not always the spam, although that's entirely possible.

So don't speculate but check your logfiles to see what's really causing the load.

bye, Dirk

the popup have to be coming from one of your advertisers. If you did not add that then someones doing it.

Take a look at your top right side block, the one that has your sponsors. Disable the block and then check out wether or not your getting popups. I beleave that your problem maybe coming from http://clk.tradedoubler.com. If not...then look at the rest of your links, shut them off one by one while checking for popups.

No, you're using a lousy counter service, Nedstat Basic, since it's been sold to another company it has lots of pop-ups. Use Statcounter.com or Google Analytics, or the Geeklog Stats plugin instead (duidelijk?)

Text Formatted Code
<!-- Begin Nedstat Basic code -->
<!-- Title: AGOVV Apeldoorn -->
<!-- URL: http://www.agovvapeldoorn.com/ -->
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://m1.nedstatbasic.net/basic.js">

// -->

check, already thought about that option but the popups are there for some time now, even before the sponsors on the right block.

that ilead.it popup was caused by an old link to nedstat for me. My site visits went up by 25%
once I got rid of it. thanks
