I have the following error in a 'new' installation of the 1.4.0rc1 release.

Sun 22 Jan 2006 02:47:23 EST - 1064: You have an error in your
SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server
version for the right syntax to use near ''asperg','What is Aspergers',
'','normal','0','Short Def.','all'. SQL in question: REPLACE INTO gl4_blocks
(bid,name,title,help,type,blockorder,content,tid,rdfurl,rdfupdated,rdflimit,
phpblockfn,onleft,owner_id,group_id,perm_owner,perm_group,
perm_members,perm_anon,is_enabled) VALUES (,'asperg',
'What is Aspergers','','normal','0',
'Short Def.','all','','','0','',0,3,4,3,2,2,2,1

Not even sure what this is telling me. Anyone?

Not reproducible. Creating a new block shouldn't result in a REPLACE INTO - that bug was in the 1.4.0 beta and has been fixed in rc1.

Interesting... as I mentioned, this is a completely fresh install of the RC1. So basically you're saying... what? I don't really know. I tried this again this morning and I'm getting the same error. Fairly annoying.

What I'm saying is "This shouldn't happen". Yeah, I know ...

The SQL statement you quoted above is missing the block id. Creating a new block would use a different SQL statement, though (and leave the creation of the block id to MySQL). So you shouldn't get this error when creating a new block in any case.

So basically I have no idea. Try using rc2 and/or give us some information about your setup ...

bye, Dirk

Okay, well, the site I'm setting up hasn't 'gone live' just yet. I've decided that I can reinstall completely and create a new database instead of adding it to the exisiting db the way it is now (it's currently the third active GL site on the same db, but I learned that my host now allows multiple db's without an extra charge -- previously it was only one.).

This should improve the situation. Thanks.
