Editing stories, groups, priviledges...

I've read the docs regarding story admins and I have a question. I want users is group "X" to be able to submit stories and calendar events without requiring approval. I also want them to be able to edit or delete any story or event of which they are the owner.

But as I understand it, in order to do this, the "X" group would also have to have write priviledges for the topic the stories belong to, which would in turn give users the ability to delete whole topics along with all the stories under them, regardless of who owns the individual stories.

Is this correct?

Is there a better way to accomplish what I am trying to do? Thanks!

Sounds like the default settings would suit you just fine.

When someone with story.edit permissions creates a new story, that story does not have the "Group E" permission set by default. So only the original author (and members of the Root group) can edit such a story then.

To modify a topic, you need explicit topic.edit permissions. "Group E" permission alone does not let you edit a topic, only stories under that topic (assuming you have story.edit permissions, too).

bye, Dirk
