unzipping plug ins on my server

I upload the zip file and try to extract it but all i get is a thing that says archive and te file name....i looked around but didnt see anything new on my website cpanel what happened?

Maybe you are not allowed to unzip things on your webspace. Generally if the instruction says you are to untar or unzip on the server you are expected to have an own server NOT webspace. So better unpack on your hard disk and FTP the stuff into the correct (!!!) subdirs.
