Hi all,

When I try to create a new admin user praying it will work (peter) by clicking in all the options (root), then save him. When I try to logon as the new admin user he has no admin menus/block. "Who's online" say "peter/Guest Users:1"

And thats not all......

When I changed the Admin password the same thing happend to him.....copied in the old password in to the databade and he suddely became admin again ?!?!

Whats happeninga!!

And I cant change the e-mail of the Admin !!! Blah Blah Blah Blah ...

I guess this was related to user rights so I deleted whole geeklog directory (not config.php), deleted database, and reinstalled everything. Run chmod........

The problem didnt go away.....

Its like a nightmare....do I have to go RedHat 9 Giving it a try

Try resetting your browser's cache and cookies. It sometimes helps with such issues.

Been there, Done that. I had some problem with login after I installed the geeklog but that is solved now.

With the default Admin all the blocks are comming up, but when I create a new admin there is no Admin blocks.

Have you thoroughly checked the files you edited for whitespace?

This can be easily overlooked and hard to find, however this could be it.

I thought the case was solved but no.

I copied some tables from the old installation. The admins in that database are still admins here with the right rights. But I cant make any new users or admins.

I have seen problems like this before that are caused by the register_globals being turned off in php.ini.

Some hosting companies require that you have your own custom php.ini in each directory where you run php scripts to override their default settings. So, for example, you might need a php.ini with register_globals=on in your geek directory and another one in your geek/admin/ directory.

I have even had to put one in each of the plugin directories on some sites to make it work.

Not sure if this could be your problem, but it is something that has caused me a trouble in the past.

Good Luck!

I made a file called php.ini with one row saying
register_globals=On.

put them in both geeklog directories...

restarted /etc/httpd restart

no improvment.... Giving it a try

Tested to changes the password for admin, locks out the admin. When I set the same password on a user, as the admin, directly in mysql table I can log on and it works as normal user. When I copy the old user table (from mysql 3) I can logon.

I wonder if there is something different in creating passowrd and reading i back. In my eyes it looks like mysql 4 or php 5 together with the password routin are making this errornous login.
