It also seems to affect your typing ...

Alternative installation instructions are available from the documentation wiki. There's an image there that may help.

Another guide is here (also linked from the wiki).

chmod is the Unix command to change file and directory permissions. Try man chmod or your favourite search engine for more information.

If you want to install Geeklog on a remote machine, you need either SSH or ftp access to it. If you're going to install it on your own PC, you can do it from the command line instead.

In case you're on Windows (you didn't mention any operation system ...), you may want to try Aeonserv. It's a package containing (among other things) MySQL, PHP, the Apache webserver, and Geeklog and is supposedly easy to install (never tried it myself, though, as I'm not using Windows).

hmm.. the site downst work..

10. Build database tables. The database you created earlier will now be populated with tables and data. Use your web browser to open the page

http://www.towsonhigh.org/admin/install/install.php

suggest other way of integrating database?

The install script is the only supported way to fill the database.

If you can't even get that to work, then something's wrong with your setup anyway.

Of course, a description of what exactly is not working would help immensely ...
