images in stories..

I see the instructions as:

"To add one of the images you are attaching to this article you need to insert specially formatted text. The specially formatted text is [imageX], [imageX_right] or [imageX_left] where X is the number of the image you have attached. NOTE: You must use the images you attach. If you do not you will be unable to save your story."

So my code looks like this:

[2004073009363250_1.jpg_left]

of course, I must be doing it wrong and it's not showing up...how exactly do I enter it?

Thanks!

You are misunderstanding the instructions that you have read. You do not replace imageX with the name of your image and then a number. you code should end up looking like [image1_right] and your next image like [image2_left], where "image" is just the place holder, so to speak, for the images that you load into the it's appropriate spot. to reiterate, Do Not change the word "image" to the name of your file. GL does that for you.

thanks.

Did a test news story:

test news story"

Now I'm getting a red 'x' but hey, I wasn't even getting that before

Is the image listed as 2004073009363250_1.jpg under the body text of the story? If so, [image1_left] should make it show up.

What's the URL to your site, maybe we could investigate further.

I entered:

[image1_left] and that's it...is there nothing else to add?

and yes, the image I've chosen is numbered by GL .

just to be clear...this is exactly how I entered the story...nothing more, nothing less.

I uploaded the image using browse, it now shows:

Images: 1) 20040730130314704_1.jpg in the area where you attach images.

Then for the story itself, I entered:

"test news story"

and have "html formatted" chosen as well.

i took a look at your story, and it seems that you are now coding it properly, but the image itself is not on your server, at least not where it is supposed to be.
try this just for kiks: browse for your image again, and save the story as a draft, then open it again for editing and preview it.
let us know..

You may also want to check that you have given proper/enough permissions to that directory in order for the server to write to it: maybe 775 or even 777. That was my problem way back when.

Fixed in CVS now.

And next time please submit a bug report. It's pure coincidence that I saw this ...

bye, Dirk
