I get the following error when doing the install at http://www.mydomainname.com/admin/install/install.php

-------------
Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/e-smith/files/ibays/boldwellies/html/admin/install/install.php on line 603

Fatal error: Failed opening required '/opt/geeklog-1.3.9/system/classes/template.class.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php') in /home/e-smith/files/ibays/boldwellies/html/admin/install/install.php on line 603
---------------

I was reading that it is safer to locate all the public_html directory stuff in a different place than the rest of the geeklog files.

I also am using /html/ instead of /public_html/

Config.php (located in /opt/geeklog-1.3.9/) is configured as follows, starting with line 67:

$_CONF['path'] = '/opt/geeklog-1.3.9/'; // should end in a slash

$_CONF['path_html'] = 'home/e-smith/files/ibays/boldwellies/html/';

Anyone have any ideas?

I just realized I forgot a / at the beginning of:

$_CONF['path_html'] = 'home/e-smith/files/ibays/boldwellies/html/';

Now config.php reads:

$_CONF['path_html'] = '/home/e-smith/files/ibays/boldwellies/html/';

But I still get the same error message.......

By the way I am only separating public_html from the rest because i read that it is supposed to be safer.

problem solved.

e-smith security does something that is fixed by running

/sbin/e-smith/db accounts setprop your_i-bay_name PHPBaseDir /
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event ibay-modify your_i-bay_name

see http://www.e-smith.org/faq.php3#6q12
