I've just completed my latest plugin for Geeklog. It is a FAQ Manager and provides a integrated tool for creating Categories and Topics for Questions and Answers.

This application is based on the FAQMan developed by Stephen Ball of aquonics (www.aquonics.com) which has apparently disappeared off the net. I received permission from Stephen to integrate his application for Geeklog and distribute it to the community. The Plugin supports all the expected features such as integrated install/de-install, admin, security and search. I've customized the templates considerably to further the integration and modified code to seamless integrate with the common database.

This is a Pre-Release version for testing and feedback. Please report any issues in the Forum on my site I have made this version 0.8 available in the downloads section.

You can see it in operation here

Great job..! Installed fine and seems stable.. Do you plan on adding Geeklog security after this beta..?

One quick thought.. Not sure if this is something that would be easy for you to do, or if it is a limitation of the faqmanager engine. It would be nice to have the option to view all of the topics for each category in a single page instead of having a seperate page for each. Once again, great work, and thanks for your hard work..! -bob

I had plans to add both of these features but wanted to get it working well and release it as is for now. There has to be someone that can break it ... come on try harder Wink

Along the same lines, navigation buttons or links (previous, next, top, etc) would be nice too. Looks great though!

LOL, I'm not sure how I can break it.. It's pretty straight forward. I made a couple of seperate categories and topics and addes HTML.. In fact, the I have no problems adding <code> html to the faqmanager, where I do with the normal geeklog topics. The geeklog stories want to strip out some html even when it's <code> or <pre> that I've observed, whereas the faqmanager doesn't. I'm probably not the best beta tester, as all I seem to be doing is just thinking of more tweaks instead of trying to put it through the ringers. Sadly, I know very little about PHP or MYSQL to even begin to try to stress-test it that way. I simply followed your install directions and have added content, and haven't gotten any errors. It works as advertised. I'll try to bang away at it a bit more, but I've played with every option available in the admin page. -bob

I've been playing with it the second it came out and I held back on making a post as I was really looking for either a bug or for anything that could just bug me about it... (Breath)... I haven't found a bug yet on Windows... Its great, Love your skills bro, You'll make it better sooner than later, its a given. Thanks for making it, it sure comes in handy Smile---Victor B. Gonzalez

I've just installed it and have the same request regarding the topics - to see the topic (question) and answers all on one page. In my case my FAQ's are short answer/questions so is not good to have to click on each question to see the answer. If it was simply an option for folks wanting to do it that way would be great. So far, I haven't been able to break it either. But I haven't tried very hard. Under general use, it seems to work well. -John Q.

The plugin works with 1.5.1 - we use it here on geeklog.net. It probably requires register_globals = on, though.

You could also try my updated version.

bye, Dirk
