If you're using a hosting service, you (usually) won't be able to access the php.ini. Contact their support ... bye, Dirk

You may be able to use the .htaccess file to update your session only settings for php.ini options.

If you are using Linux then execute "updatedb" at the in the shell. This will create an index of all your files. Then do a "locate php.ini" . This will tell you where it is. You can use this to look for any file.

Is there a writeup on how to make an .htaccess thingamajig so that it will allow us to do such?

I've just learned (from Dirk) that I need to make sure allow_url_fopen=on is done in the php.ini file - which, of course, I don't have access to... is that something that can be "taken care of" in an .htaccess file?

If so - anyone have time to help me make sure I get it right?

The web is full of .htacces tutorials ...

Specifically for PHP, you're looking for the php_flag directive.

This will only work, though, if your hosting service allows it.

Woot!

No need for that, my hosting service enabled the thing for me.
