Displaying Blocks

I was wondering if it was possible to make blocks hidden by default instead of being displayed. On my site http://dragonlair.anu.edu.au/ I provide multiple RDF feeds to a broad range of interests, mainly because the target audience is students studying many different subjects. Unfortunately, there seems to be no way for me to customize the default view so that only, say, one or two blocks are displayed by default, and users can add others in their display prefs. This means the page ends up unnecessarily long, and much of the information in the blocks is irrelevant for many people. Is there a nice, easy way to change this? Or could it be implemented in a later development of Geeklog? It was one of the attractions of Slashcode that Geeklog doesn't seem to support.
