File Manager Question

I have just installed the file manager (downloads) plugin and have a question. Rather then uploading a file, is there anyway that we can link to a file that resides on another server for download, rather then having to upload that file to my server? I want to keep all of my downloads within the file manager plugin to keep my downloads inj a uniform location rather then having those downloads in another location. Thanks

the methods described here work great, but the file size does not update... is there any workaround for that?
