Is there a way to allow another template blockheader and blockfooter.thtml to be used to display the message alerts within geeklog? This would allow them to stand out more from the other stories. thanx.

Yes, although getting long in the tooth, the clean theme is the only shipping theme that makes use of this feature. It's not actually doing much if you load it up since the shipping version of clean is not making use of this feature "out of the box".

But, that said, open the clean theme and take a look at the functions.php file. In there is the secret to building custom blockheaders and so on.

We hope to release another template theme in early 2003 that will take Geeklog into a whole new direction in terms of how we all view and interact with weblogs.

Thankx for the clean layout tip, ill take a peak in a mo. I've been making up my own theme out of a combination of most of the themes. the main difference I made so far was to place color coding into my topics and stories, although this was only possible by mucking around with the lib-common.php, now depending on the topic the stories header title background color is unique.
