Maybe I haven't looked deep enough, but is there a flag somewhere that would render my Geeklog site text-only for users that are on very slow connections? At this point, only a few items are graphics, namely the logo.gif, the icons for each topic, and some of the theme related aesthetics.

Your users could select a theme that has no graphics (or next to none), e.g. the Digital Monochrome theme. Or you could create one that is specially made for slow connections. Your users can also switch off the topic icons in their display preferences. bye, Dirk
