I have been seeing a lot of sites out there that remove or change the powered by geeklog link on the bottom the the page.
Is this ok?

Well, it would certainly be nice if you left it in but it is not required.
Also it seems like some people feel uncomfortable with the word "geek", especially in a business context. So that may play a role as well.
