I'm a reentry student at CCSF studying computer science and philosophy. I'm working on a couple PHP and MySQL web projects as not-for-profit volunteer work to learn how to manipulate web applications the way I want to. I hope to design a useful philosophy and technolgy portal site in the upcoming future, but I'm still working on learning how to incorporate all the functionality from all the seperate apps the open source community has to offer. This has brought me to technologies like ADODB for database ease, Content Management Systems for templating and themeing and necessarily PHP for ease of use and application from within various CMS frameworks. I've tried many portal systems, from PHPNuke to PHPortal, to generic, to templates, to Mambo, to Geeklog. I think Geeklog is the best. It is the cleanest code, makes sense and is elgently designed. I hope to standardize on it and learn how to use it as a tool for web coordination among people and groups.
What I'm learning and researching in free time now is how to blend or stich, or merge, or incorporate other applications into the geeklog framework as uniformly as possible and start making plugins that will help the community. What would be a good word for this process? (incorporating one php application into another). - PGP Key
