Can you give me a few more details:

1. What version of Geeklog
2. What version of Media Gallery were your running (previous version before trying to upgrade)
3. Finally, what version are you upgrading to?

In the latest version (1.4.7) that line in functions.inc handles the featured album centerblock. I have seen issues where you upload the new files and before you can actually run the upgrade you might get an error like this. If this is the case, just enter the URL to go directly to your plugin admin screen (http://www.yoursitehere.com/admin/plugins.php) and try to run the update from there.

These errors are caused by the Featured Album.

Can you go back to the original version (0.8), disable all featured albums and random image blocks, try the upload one more time?
