I finally got around to updating the menu plugin for Geeklog 1.3.8. This only consisted of creating the new modified index.php for Geeklog 1.3.8. There are now two new changed files in the archive new-index_1_3_7.php and new-index_1_3_8.php. As you might guess the new_index_1_3_8.php is for geeklog 1.3.8. And the other new-index? Well I will let you guess what that is for. To upgrade simply replace the Geeklog 1.3.8 main index.php with the new-index_1_3_8.php. There are no other changes. I am still waiting for someone with more time than I to create a dynamic html or java menu plugin. Anyway you can get the updated plugin from Sourceforge. Note that there is only one http:// here so the link should work and I want no snide comments from Dwight or Blaine about pigs. TomW

Tom, do you have access to add/update files to the souceforge plugin page? (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=68255) A lot of the hacks/plugins are out of date... was wondering if i could re-arrange things (or help re-arrange things) so that they\'re listed by GL 1.3.5, 1.3.6, 1.3.7, etc... and are up-to-date. Just a thought... let me know.

I created a DHTML menu on my site... unfortunately I don\'t know (haven\'t tried) to make it into a plugin yet... I used the code from here: www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/switchmenu.htm and you can see it in action here: www.okanagangirlz.com

Turn your dynamic html menu into a plugin for all to enjoy. Thats what this is all about. I created every plugin I have written first for myself in reponse to my own needs. As repayment to the Geeklog developers, I polished them up and released them as plugins. Yes I am responsible for the Gplugs website and cvs. The Gplugs website I have given up on because it takes so long to load. I have better things to do than wait 1 to 2 minutes per page load. I almost have it reconstructed back at the Pigstye and when I do I will add a redirect to it from the sourceforge website. The sourceforge cvs has been in disarry in general for a couple of months. It seems they have the developer side fixed now but it sometimes takes a week for it to show up in the web version of cvs. One of the main reasons I set up the gplugs cvs was I saw that several Geeklog developers (Matt, Mr GXBlock, TomW) were becoming inactive and I wanted to create a place where there work would be preserved and remain available. If you or anyone else wants to take over one of those projects or hacks, contact me. I will help you try to arrange with the original author to take over the project. At the very least, I will help you start a new fork. Open source is nice this way. Currently 16 developers have access to the cvs, but I am always open to more. Changing the cvs tree itself is a challenge at sf.net. They do not allow deletions or renames without good reason and then only they can do it. Their reasoning is that since this is GPL opensource the history and code should be maintained. I agree with this. Almost everything in cvs is available as a file release and nearly all of them state what version they are intended for. In short, if you wish to take over or fork a project let me know your sf.net user name (by email) and I will give you access to cvs and other portions of the website. TomW

Tom, just a note about the new Menu plugin.
It creates two tables in the MySQL database:
mnu_index
mnu_user

This breaks the naming convention of the
Text Formatted Code
$_DB_table_prefix = 'gl_';    // e.g. 'gl_'

The reason that this is relevant is that some of us are populating MULTIPLE GL sites into one Database using different DB_table_prefixes.

I have:
sit1_ (for all GL tables)
sit2_
sit3_ etc. ....

So if you prepend the DB_table_prefix in front of Menu tables, I could then use Menu across all the sites in my one DB.
