Hello all, I see in the support section that one can get to the IRC chat.

Want to meet the Geeklog developers and other Geeklog users? Join us on IRC: channel #geeklog on irc.freenode.net.
Note: The channel is often very quiet. It's usually best to "just ask your question" and be willing to wait a bit for a response.

However, when I typed http://irc.freenode.net all i got are the list below. Am I doing something wrong?

You should us an irc client (like mIRC or Bersirc or X-chat or geoirc) or some irc web client like cgi:irc.
