This is a Unicode (UTF-8) character set. It allows Geeklog user to switch between English and other Unicode (UTF-8) translations, especially Asian language translations, without losing the readability of the existing stories.

I've uploaded it to my language folder and promptly changed config.php from
$_CONF['language'] = 'english';
into
$_CONF['language'] = 'english_unicode';

...and nothing changed in the site!
It still uses ISO english (and indeed, so does the charset meta).

Yes, I've erased my entire cache AND my present cookie.

And yes, I've actually changed the PHP file from "English_Unicode.php" into "english_unicode.php" to eliminate capital letters as a problem factor.

That's because the only difference between the two versions is the line defining the character set:

$LANG_CHARSET = 'utf-8';

What exactly did you expect?

Well, as I've said, in the source code, the charset meta is still set to "iso-8859-1".
And of course "ISO" is what you see when you right click and choose "Encoding".
I've thought that both should have been turned into "utf-8", like the pages in, say, Google.

P.S.
Did you notice how my subject changed into "Well, it didn"?

I just didn't know the setting I mentioned was only used for default. Individual users still used their old setting, which was ISO...
