I am currently trying to get a rating system working for stories. but it doesnt like php i have found.

is there a way of doing this??

You can\'t embed php in articles. You need to use the updated staticpage plugin for that. All text entered into the story editor is passed through several filters to remove unwanted (dis-allowed) HTML tags, Javascript and PHP code.

What you are trying to do sounds to more involved and is likely will require customizing the GL application - modifying existing php code.
