curious
This is a question I need answered before I can install and get to work on the CMS, so I'll ask and hope for the best. Sorry in advance for the length!

I have a domain called www.talktidy.com For 10 years it's stayed pretty much the same as when it was set up. It's a 'dictionary' of sorts covering the dialect we use in South Wales where I was born (feel free to visit for a quick look).

I want to create a site where the dictionary is the focal point of the front page, so I need to be able to list the letters of the Alphabet as links each to it's own page (much as they are now...). I also want to run a forum etc on the site so it needs flexibility. I've tried Xoops, Jumla, Mambo etc but they are either too simplistic or too complex. I'm no coder so I need something that will let me add the pages and plugins I need to get the site looking as good as I need.

Question... will Geeklog be the right CMS and can someone explain if so... *why* (also perhaps how i might build the dictionary into the prog). Smile

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Yes, you can easily do what you want with Geeklog.

Geeklog comes with the staticpage plugin to create any pages you need. You will need to create 27 static pages. One for the alphabet to displayed on from page with 26 links (A to Z) and 26 pages, one ofr each letter. You will need to copy paste content from your old pages to the new ones.

Geeklog also comes with a link plugin to manage your links page.

Install forum plugin to get a nice forum.

Install contact plugin to get a nice contact page.

That's all.
I'm available to customise your themes or plugins for your Geeklog CMS

Sounds ideal!! Thanks.

I'll give it a whirl and see how I go. Might need to come back for extra assistance but I'll get on with installing and working out where to go from there.

Thanks for the road plan!! Big Grin
