What's Up With the File Management Plugin?

I've got File Management version 1.5.3 loaded and running - is that the most recent version?

Are there no better options out there?

I've also poked around in the File Management plugin a bit. The result is the version that's currently in use on geeklog.net. That version has a problem with upgrading from really old versions of the plugin - someone motivate me to dive into that again. Or send patches - it's all open source after all Mr. Green
