This a new topic to speak about pure theme (feature request, bugs...).

One question from frawo is : How to put a logo instead of txt in the header?

In header.thtml found
Text Formatted Code

                          <a href="{site_url}">
                                <span id="header-site-logo"{xhtml}>{site_name}</span>
                          </a>

and replace by
Text Formatted Code

        <a class="header-logo" href="{site_url}/" rel="home">
            <img src="{site_logo}" width="xx" height="yy" alt="{site_name}"{xhtml}>
        </a>

where xx is the logo's width and yy logo's height. Position the logo can be made in style.css width adding a header-logo class

Text Formatted Code

.header-logo {
  padding-left:15px;
  padding-top:13px;
}

Frank,

I notice a issue with your search box. Maybe you can change the header search class in your ccs/style.css

Text Formatted Code

#header-search {
float:right;
margin-top:-80px;
padding:0px 20px 0px 0px;
}

...issue with your search box

Changed the ccs/style.css as suggested.

But there are some more issues: the searchbox is in place if you visit "Om oss" and "Links", but the logo is gone. And if you visit "Statistikk" there are some strange things; the searchbox are placed on 4 different places with the logoheader.

Maybe I have f** up somehow.
A clean install of Pure is maybe recommanded?

Frank,

Yes very strange... some pages with text logo and others with picture logo. Strange too the stats page completely corrupt. You can check with another theme (professional) if the core code is ok.

Maybe it would be interesting to make a pure theme fresh install.

The core code seems to be broken somehow, no themes show up ok.

Fresh version of Geeklog will be installed.

Hi,

This theme was not updated since 2008.

A new tool is coming and you will be able to create, save, and download themes. It will be an online tool and updates will be made with each geeklog release. But I need few days more before opening this new service.

ok
couse i downloaded it and it does not work on 1.7.1
at least for me ... it is not working ...
it handles css's strangely ...
*found it*

You can manualy change settings (layout, colors, menu...) in the default-settings.php file.
Purepro need to have write permission to the purepro/css folder.
Delete the purepro/css/my-site folder to rebuild css with new layout, color, menu... settings.

as i was asking before:
is there any 'repository' of themes?

The themes that are on the demo site can be downloaded when you look thru the vTheme changer. There is a link on most themes that will give you the oppertunity to download the most current theme update that was made of that theme.

If you have an issue with one of the themes, please let me know, so I can get it resolved.

well a friend desired the look based on pure theme
when i started a quest on getting it i did not know that i will end up setting up pure-pro theme, couse i could not get my hands on pure - but it runs on demo site ... so ... at least those verions (current - compatible with latest release of geeklog) that exist upthere should be directly downloadable from repository that is not dependent on other ppl so much ... but only on code that is used to run demo.geeklog.net

imho

---- Rant On ---
So what are you trying to say? That because the downloadable theme archives do not come from the geeklog.net url that there is a problem? Both the demo.geeklog.net and the theme archives are hosted on the same server by Spacequad Internet Services. As for some of the themes that are demo'd on the demo site and yet link you to the author's site, where there is no direct download, is because the author wants more control over their themes. Either because they (the author) want(s) to charge a premium for the theme or because they want to know who downloads it, or whatever their personal reasons may be.

Spacequad Internet Services, nor Geeklog have no control over what the theme author(s) end intentions will be. Geeklog has many contributors because it is an open source software that runs on many thousands of web servers around the world.

--- Rant Off ---

As I've said in the past, if you have an issue with any of the themes that are downloaded from the demo site, please let me know.

Not sure what your point is. demo.geeklog.net is about as "official" a repository as it gets. Keep in mind that all the work is done by volunteers and we should all be grateful for the amount of work that Michael puts into updating all those themes for each new version.

bye, Dirk

cmon guys, dont be so defencive ...
im here from the start and i know what u mean ...

let me try be clearer ...
where to begin ...
welll ... at the demo site
when new version of geeklog comes out, demo needs updating for sure ...
if u want it updated, u need to update those themes that run upthere
so ... since all the work is done (updating themes), u could easily package them in targzip and make them downloadable by users of geeklog - so we can use them with little less hassle ...

thats for the themes
next thingy are plugins (addons)
squatty is no more as it seems and there is quite a hassle to get compatible plugins ...

imho is clear that we will need a repository of those (at least), maintained by geeklog - meaning - what has been done CAN NOT be deleted

i yust by the way noticed the arguments on geeklog

and
im not ranting
im trying to help

4ex i have now chatterblock compiled that works with 171
should i compress it and upload it to geeklog.net?
im not rly a developer, so i may need some instructions ... i could try, but im not inclined to work that is not rly needed by anyone (in a way i would do it)

so
if there is no repository, we need one ... or make a procedure how to update this one - on geeklog.net

one more thing - my quest started with pure ... im stuck with pure pro
and ... all the instructions i could find is here
http://www.geeklog.net/filemgmt/index.php?id=1010&query=pure
between extracted files there is no
default-settings.php
as it says here
You can manualy change settings (layout, colors, menu...) in the default-settings.php file.

(since the Subject is pure theme (that i could not find to dl in version demo uses it))

Okay Gape,

We are not trying to be defensive. The repositories are simple to find. All you have to do is look in the downloads area and pick and choose the category you want to browse. Then download the file archive you want and install it. If you want to upload a completed archive (Example: your chatterblock changes), create a new forum topic for discussions about it. Ask people to beta test it out, Create your readme file instructing the user how to install the software and any changes that were made and date the changes in the readme.txt file. Also put a way for user to contact you, incase there are problems that need to be resolved. Then once you feel comfortable that there are no problems, then upload it to the repository here at geeklog.net. Same holds true for the themes. If you want the theme to be part of the demo site, then create an account over at www.spacequad.com and upload your theme there and send me a note about it. Then I will include it in the demo.

I downloaded the purepro theme from here and have noticed what your complaint is about. This unfortunately has to be resolved thru the author of the theme. There are 2 versions of this theme. One is the pure theme and the other is the purepro theme. Both are made by the same author over at www.geeklog.fr and there has been discussions on this forum about that theme. The last information that I recall at the time of this post, was that cordiste was working on an update. Time to completion was unknown. This is one reason I do not have the purepro theme running on the demo site. Themes that do not work or are in need of an update are not available for download thru the demo site. If a problem does arise, this is why I ask people to contact me about them, so that they can be resolved.

One is the pure theme and the other is the purepro theme.

that is the case y
but, puprepro is obtainable (4free)

pure is not ... but u have it on demo.geeklog.net
is there a way to share it?

(purepro strikes me as hard to edit, i think its beacuse it is not intended to edit in old school way - but in some proggy he is developing)

i cant find it now but i remember some time ago there was a plugin or something to somewhat easily create layouts for geeklog sites ... what was it?

i like
www.spacequad.com
is it obtainable?

I don't think a lot of people would need all 47 themes. Users usually only have a site or two - why should they want to download such a huge tarball? I simply think there's no demand for that.

As for Chatterblock: That plugin is unsupported now and waiting for someone to pick it up. If you have a fixed version then by all means go ahead and upload it. I'm sure there are users who would be grateful.

no need for all the themes in tarball
i dont know the system how to do it ... but ... a link to request a theme - and a system would tarball it and send it to user who requested it ... 4ex
it is not first time i used lots of time looking for theme that was chozen from demo.geeklog.net - couse i send ppl there to chooze the theme ... and then the quest strarts Razz

the look of the site is important
we have themes
why not give them to users
imho geeklog would get more users if themes were easily obtainable ... this aproach drives off new developers ...
imho

chatterblock - i zip it and upload?
