Hi, i get this error when trying to install:

Text Formatted Code
Warning: fopen(D:/Hosting/5548871/html/siteconfig.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in D:\Hosting\5548871\html\admin\install\index.php on line 1190

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in D:\Hosting\5548871\html\admin\install\index.php on line 1191
Unable to modify D:/Hosting/5548871/html/siteconfig.php. Did you make sure the file is writable by the web server?

Having trouble trying to figure out the problem =(
Thanks in advance for the help.

During the install, the install script needs write access to the siteconfig.php (and db-config.php) file. Looks like that's not the case.

I'm not on Windows, so can't test it: Did you not get a warning message about this on the first page of the install script?

bye, Dirk

Oh yup.

The installer was unable to locate critical Geeklog files. This is probably because you have moved them from their default location. Please specify the paths to the files and directories below:

So I changed it to: D:/Hosting/5548871/html/db-config.php and it took me to the next step.

Also, thanks for fast response =)

Can you be more specific, please? What's the problem now? Still the same? What did you try? What happened?

I wouldn't know how to make a file writable on Windows, but the Geeklog Demo Site is running on Windows, for example, so it sure is possible ...

Yes, still the same problem. I tried changing the path in the file on lines 1190 & 1191 and no help. I think I should just fix my root folder on website and try to make it mimic the guide, maybe then I will be successful xD

Thanks for your replies and help Dirk, I will keep on pushing through until I have my site working =)

I was hoping for some of our Windows users to jump in with tips ...

Let us know how it goes. We should really add some better instructions and troubleshooting tips for Windows.

bye, Dirk

It looks like you had the right paths initially but the web service does not have permission to write to the file To make those files writable in Windows. Open up Windows explorer, find the files and then right click to bring up a menu and click properties. From here you can then click the security tab. From there you have to add the user (that the web service uses) and give it write and modify permissions.

In WinTendo Explorer, do a
Start >> Run... > D:\Hosting\5548871 and hit enter.
Find and highlight the html folder, and right mouse click.
Select either Properties (then Security Tab) or Security and Permissions (I think that's it)
Make sure "System " is listed in the list with ALL Permissions checked.

If System is not listed there, hit the Add button and type in System and then hit the
"Check Names" button. It will add System.
Restart XAMP service and try again.

That should help.
