There may be more as I am working to customize my site.
But only 2 now. lol

You have "Only Root can Feature?"
Can you also add "Only Root can add to home page?"
Or something like that.

Also I am going to have a lot of topics on my site are clapped together.
Can you add a category option?
Something like

--Home
News From Development
--Geeklog (196)
--Geeklog 2 (29)
--Announcements (212)
--Summer of Code (11)
--Security (60)
News From the community
--Plugins (55)
--Server (27)
--Spam (10)

Thanks

If you want an answer, you have to write in proper English. It's not possible at all to understand your first request.

As for the second request, I assume you want categories like in the forum plugins. That's not possible. But it can be done manually via hacking.

I think I was clear? Also some way to see how many is new. Have a img and number like you see geeklog has 1 new story from the last time you loged in.
I can't use my own img like this I think I was clear? Also some way to see how many is new. Have a img and number like you see geeklog has 1 new story from the last time you loged in.
I can't use imgs on the forums so a :rtfm: will have to do.

"Only Root can add to home page" does this mean read and write only topics? This has been discussed before but I can`t find the thread, the search only replies 5 things.

The other thing was a subcategories menu? Maybe this? http://www.portalparts.com/filemgmt/index.php?id=52

~~~adding~~~
At least I found the other thread about the same topic:
This is not a menu thing. I do have almost all of Blaine's add-ons.
Look at the "Sections" on the left here on the geeklog site.
I want a way to break that up into categories like you see in my post were some of the text is bold and stands out.
Also some way to see how many new articles there is. Geeklog has always been made for a site that may get new articles a few times a week.
But if it's a site that can get 10 or more new articles a day, people are going to get lost and lose track.
This way they can see how many new articles have been added to the site from the last time they logged in.
I would even suggest something coming up, on the article itself. Like that same "new" img at the from of the title of the new "news".
" :rtfm: Geeklog 1.6.0 BETA 1"
Do you get what I am saying yet?
I have posted here and other mod Aurthur sites over the years asking for it. I even sent emails to some.
Hello Mikez,
You wil need to make a plugin to build a menu with topics. This plugin could allow to sort topics (alpha, number) and add main labels: News From Development & News From the community.
See the function COM_showTopics in lib-common.php to start.
I have tied. I even tried to use the old plug that did something like this and update it.
I even asked the person that made the old plug to update it.
But he said Dirk did or said something to him and he wont do plugs for us anymore.
But for real, this is something most any site would use! Most of use would like to easily see how many new articles from the last time we was here.
And many people that use geeklog would like to make there sections more clear for there members if there sight hits on more then one subject.
How many new stories do you have per day, how many per topic?
What about changing the "what`s new block"? It could show all the new stories since the last login of the user.
Well it's for a tribal community. It will have the council meeting news and everything from our school.
It will have announcements and local news. Plus much more. I can type an hour and never get it all out on this post.
The council alone will put at least 5 to 20 things out a day.
Each grade in the school will have there own thing. Lets not forget everything that comes with a school.
Band, Drama, Football.
And in the summer we have community events going on all the time.
And there is always someone doing something to get on the local news every day.
I won't even be using the front page like it is here on geeklog.
I just keep the featured up with the general info of the day. But below that will be 4 blocks.
3 rows. So that makes 12 blocks. Each holding 10 news stories ran by feeds from the site.
Ya I figured out how to do it. Looks nice to. Got the subject icon at the top with the name of the subject.
But even with all that. That will be for just the main subjects.
Like school. It will show whats it going on from the school Bord.
But not, what is going on per grade. They will have to use the Sections bar that is more broke down. But now just looks like a LONG wall of text.
Now think about an avg user that comes and checks out the site 1x a week to see what is new.
If I used the what`s new block box and let it show everything that was new from the last time they was there. All they will see is a mile long line of text taking a month to read with a lot of info they don't care about. Say like they have no kids.
When it will be an easy fix to and the number next to the subject in the Sections block of new stories with a "New" little icon.
I have never understood why geeklog used the total number of stories on the site.No one that's is not an admin to the site really cares how many stories total a site has.
Just what is new.
I can go on. But my fingers hurt. Cry
I think that`s traditionally so with blogs e.g. http://wordpress.org/showcase/ left menu.
At first I did not understand you because all the stories are chronologically and there is little chance to miss one. Of course if you have 6 days x 20 new stories in one topic but maybe only 1 in another topic this can be a problem. So it would look like that:
Council (890 / 120 new)
Summer team (1 / 1 new)
Football (500 / 78 new)
I think this would be worthwhile as a FR. As soon as the last login date is being stored there could be a count how many stories are new.
I tried to discuss the use of GL in larger groups before and also made some feature requests.
You`d probably also need read and write only topics.
somthing like my first post.
I am going to use Exclamation for the new news img. You can't link pics on this forum.
so Exclamation will have to do.
--Home
School
--Schhol Bord ( Exclamation 16)
--1st Grade
--2nd Grade ( Exclamation 2)
--3rd Grade ( Exclamation 11)
News From the community
--Events ( Exclamation 55)
--Meetings ( Exclamation 7)
Not how 1st Grade has nothing. There is no new news there.
The bold text it the defrent subjects.
