changing the header menu?

I must have been away a long time geeklog has changed so much since the last time i did an install. A search showed me that you can change the main header menu via "Theme" section of the Configuration admin panel. But it only allows me to add or delete items , for example if i want to rename directory to archive what file am i looking for? plus if i want to add a link to a static page or outside the domain what file do i edit? Last but not least where do i find how to change it so only admin sees items such as site statistics? Im guessing its the same file that all this is ine but the structure has changed so much im confused.

If you want the change the text for a built-in menu entry, you would have to change the language file.

Custom links can be added by adding a "custom" entry in the Configuration and then provide a function called CUSTOM_menuEntries in your lib-custom.php (there's a sample function in there already, but it's commented out).

Adding static pages to the menu is done by checking the "Add to menu" checkbox and providing a label.

You can not restrict the stats to admin users, but to logged-in users:

Configuration > Geeklog > Users and Submissions > Login Settings > Stats Login Required

Dirk thanks the changing the language part worked for changing the word directory to archives but when i try to change contribute to add your story it breaks the site, is it because its a multi word entry and it messes with the array? Also can you comment out certain items such as stats? i know i edited a text file in an older version of geeklog and copied the original link to a block only seen by the admin so i could still get there easily but no one else could (unless they knew the direct link good for the average net user)

Ultimately im trying to use the dossier theme and make the tabs the different topics that i have listed as well as some of the default geeklog options. Im not that familiar with php but when you guys throw me a bone i generally can figure it out , geeklog has changed for the better since i last used it and ive forgotten so much it makes it difficult.

(I might add that the dossier pluggin was worth far more then the 3 bucks i paid for it)

I just read my post and confused myself, with the wording. So to clear it up im wanting to have certain topics in the middle of the header menu and change the order of the defaults as well as hide some of the defaults for example contribute, topic 1, topic2, topic3,directory, links, polls,Advanced search ( something like that )

Hello,

If you need a static menu you can remove all config > Theme > Menu Elements and built it with CUSTOM_menuEntries

Custom links can be added by adding a "custom" entry in the Configuration and then provide a function called CUSTOM_menuEntries in your lib-custom.php (there's a sample function in there already, but it's commented out).

you can look at glmenu plugin too.

You can do anything you want with the theme as it is more or less HTML and CSS.

Have a look at \layout\professional\header.thtml

Also have a look at this:

Im worded myself wrong again i said header , i really meant menu , ive allready changed the header file to what i want. Its the main menu im wanting to modify such as move advanced search all the way to the left drop site stats and add links to the various topics in the blog. Im trying to figure out what file thats in , i would think menu*.* is something im looking for.

I finally figured out how to get the custom info i want in and i removed the links to the ones i didnt want but im using the dossier theme on the site which makes each menu item look like a file folder tab and the custom links i put in look like folder tabs but there isnt a line going across the screen below the tab itself ( to make it look like a folder ) im assuming there is some sort of code that should be inserted between each custom menu item but i cant figure out in which file thats stored. ( all the non custom tabs look like folders so im halfway there)
